![]() It was so decisive that it essentially reset galactic calendars. For reference, the Battle of Yavin is the famous assault on the Death Star in A New Hope and marked the Rebel Alliance’s first decisive victory against the Empire. Much like the real world, the chronology of Star Wars falls into two periods: Before the Battle of Yavin (BBY) and After the Battle of Yavin (ABY). Difficult, but not impossible.īefore we begin, we should explain some terminology. ![]() Star Wars Jedi: Survivor doesn’t offer such obvious luxuries since it is a more self-contained story, which makes it more difficult to place in the greater timeline. The Book of Boba Fett, for instance, clearly takes place after the Galactic Empire has fallen, but we only know that because of a few cameos from pre-existing characters and context clues. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.Sometimes, it’s easy to figure out how a piece of Star Wars media fits into the larger Star Wars timeline. This insinuates that the bacta tank was not a routine medical procedure Vader needed, but a means to lick his wounds following a fight with Cere that nearly killed him. Moreover, the most salient piece of information connecting Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Obi-Wan Kenobi this way is that Obi-Wan first ‘sees’ Vader through a Force-related vision as he is recovering in a bacta tank. It would not be out of the realm of possibility, then, for the Empire or Reva to have alerted Vader of Obi-Wan’s movements, which would have prompted him to take that as his utmost priority over Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Hidden Path or Cal. It has been confirmed that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Obi-Wan Kenobi both take place in 9 BBY, and due to the events surrounding Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Darth Vader, it would seem guaranteed that Vader could have left Jedha prematurely due to Obi-Wan’s presence. Obi-Wan Kenobi shares story beats with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in this way, giving Obi-Wan and Cal similar experiences as refugees. Obi-Wan Kenobi depicts the exiled Jedi as he attempts to live a life hidden away from the Empire. Vader does state that he is there for Cere, and he may not perceive Cal as a threat, but a much more pressing matter could have been brought to his attention as far as the Obi-Wan Kenobi show is concerned. But because Cal is still there on Jedha and is technically even in the same room as Vader for a moment, fans have questioned why Vader and the Empire would have left then and there. This fight ends with both of them critically wounded, though Vader is able to walk away while Cere soon dies. Late into the game, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Cere Junda gets the rematch of the century against Vader. The setting and enemies selected for each game play a huge role in determining which part of the continuity and timeline they belong to, and the presence of Darth Vader pinpoints it even further. Star Wars’ galaxy is immense and fully open to new stories taking place, such as Cal’s, and it is excellent to see how Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor have managed to remain true to the continuity they belong to, while still paving their own original paths. It is interesting to see how such a popular event such as the Jedi Purge is interpreted in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order from the perspective of Cal and his friends. Obi-Wan Kenobi was the most recent Star Wars entry on Disney Plus before The Mandalorian’s third season aired, and because the eponymous Jedi equipped both a lightsaber and a blaster it made sense to feature them as skins alongside Kenobi’s robes. Indeed, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s pre-order and Deluxe Edition bonuses have already demonstrated that the game has no problem making references to Star Wars’ biggest properties. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s setting is highly distinct, for example, and seems to tie directly into Disney Plus’ Obi-Wan Kenobi series. This means that anything Cal Kestis and the Stinger Mantis crew get up to needs to be coherently tied to any ongoing events in the continuity, and Respawn needs to be mindful of how certain actions could precipitate particular repercussions. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor are made incredibly exciting due to the fact that they are embedded in Star Wars’ canon.
